The Oracle Applications DBA is responsible for all activities related to the design, implementation, administration and maintenance of the Oracle database(s). Ensures sound database definitions, structures and documentation. Responsible for maintaining the security and integrity controls and monitors the overall Oracle database environment(s). Responsible for all software systems programming activities. Directs the interface of software systems with the hardware configuration and the applications systems.

Description of Job Duties -  Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Responsible for the migration of code in the Oracle E-Business Suite.
  • Responsible for Oracle Applications concurrent processing, workflow, and AOL.
  • Responsible for cloning and patching.
  • Responsible for database backups and recovery – RMAN.
  • Responsible for Shell Scripting / Perl / Awk.
  • Responsible for SQL / PLSQL Scripting.
  • Responsible for Web Server Administration / Apache.
  • Strong problem solving skills, and the ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Adhere to Company policies including but not limited to the Attendance Guideline, Freedom from Harassment and Employee Discount Guideline.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years experience as a DBA and System Administrator for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11.5.10 and 12 to include cloning, patching, performance management and tuning and based on both Oracle DB Versions 10 and 11 and to include multi-tier environments in a Unix/Linux environment.
  • 3+years in Oracle E-Business Suite database backups, recovery and fail over to include RMAN, Netbackup, Data Guard and Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC). Demonstrated experience and ability in recovering databases with missing and corrupted files.
  • 3+ years in Oracle 10g Discoverer, Oracle Single Sign On, Oracle Identity Management, and Oracle Portal installation and administration.
  • 3+ years in Performance tuning to include the use and interpretation of Stats pack, Grid Control, AWR, explain plans, and ‘10046’ SQL traces. Also to include understanding the Oracle Database internal objects and structures and their interactions to include latches, memory structures, wait events, physical file structures, internal parameters, data dictionary views and dynamic performance views.
  • Other desired skills - Windows Administration and Active Directory, Network Administration / IOS, Fiber and ISCSI Storage Administration / EMC, PHP and Java Script Programming
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Must be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
