Description:

The Vice President, Editor-in-Chief (EIC) oversees publishing and content operations for Dairy Management Inc., including the direction of editorial staff, coordination of contributors in the content network, relationships with media partners and the development and distribution of content for the Dairy Good Publishing Platform.

Qualifications/Education:

The EIC should have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the publishing/agency arena through some combination of traditional, strong digital and/or brand journalism, marketing and/or communications. A qualified candidate is a master storyteller, with an eye for high-impact creative and a journalistic mindset, owning and always developing strong relationships with top-tier, national media. This person is nimble, knows how to execute compelling content in a Newsroom or real-time publishing environment and has experience leading teams to do so.

This individual must have strong digital/social savvy, with a deep understanding of the evolving traditional and emerging media landscapes and how they impact digital publishing.

The EIC will preside over the Editorial Board, set editorial standards and provide vision and leadership to guide Newsroom staff, content advocates and content creators across planning, execution, distribution and analytics for all social and digital content.

An undergraduate and/or advanced degree in Journalism or Communications is required.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ownership of all published content and

    • Content calendar and workflow from all sources

    • Editorial decision making

    • Oversight of multimedia content creation and publishing across content network

    • Strategic oversight of distribution of content across social/digital ecosystem

    • Coordination of paid media partnerships with partner agencies for content co-creation and distribution, amplification

    • Analytics and reporting for all content to understand performance and optimize publishing against KPIs

  • Mentoring and managing staff members who serve in subordinate editorial roles

  • Leadership and fostering of experts (analyst, strategist, etc.) in the Newsroom and across the content network

  • Liaise with Integrated Communicators, SRs, and DMI/agency partners

  • Execution of brand and editorial guidelines for publishing, including consistent tone, look and feel for all social and digital content

  • Creating content initiatives that bolster profile and create value for target audiences

  • Engaging in short- and long-term strategic planning and regularly interacting with key stakeholders to effectively manage communication, collaboration, content production and workflow

  • Researching developments within relevant industries, with a careful eye on the social/digital work executed by competitors and aspirational brands/companies

  • Developing, editing or revising content as necessary
