ADP is hiring a Director of Communications. This person is responsible for providing strategic public relations leadership to his/her assigned business unit and provides counsel to senior leaders on public relations matters to advance BU goals consistent with the corporate values. The successful candidate will be experienced in dealing with intricate and sometimes conflicting events, and using insights and past experience to recommend constructive and innovative communications strategies that contribute to overall business success. The position requires collaboration with others across corporate marketing, including product marketing and central support functions, to ensure that BU initiatives are consistent with and in support of companywide marketing objectives. This position will represent the BU and its PR needs and interests in department-wide forums, helping to smartly advance discussions with colleagues and contribute to "one-ADP" communications initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates with marketing teammates, business unit leaders, subject matter experts, and both internal and external vendors to create a comprehensive PR and thought leadership plan. Plan components will span all of the necessary elements from coverage analysis and thought-leadership messaging development and media outreach through executive speaker topics and venues, webinar and seminar topics and participants, and the maintenance of a calendar of all activities and events Manages the company's public relations agency, ensuring the team assigned to the ADP account is meeting or exceeding plan objectives and completing deliverables on time and within budget, per contract, and adhering to all corporate communications policies. Staffs editorial interviews with executives that are arranged internally or by the agency. Understands and monitors coverage of industry issues and key thought leadership themes, and ADP's comparative share of voice. Identifies new industry issues and thought leadership themes for which ADP may need to develop and communicate a position. Manages the process of reviewing, editing and securing all necessary approvals for company announcements developed internally or by the agency before they are released. Partners with Corporate Communications to relevant and valuable speaking engagements for executives within -assigned BU and ensures the executives are well prepared. Supports development of executive-level presentations seminars, webinars, PR and AR activities and other industry events. Completed in partnership with Corporate Communications when appropriate. Manages all planning, coordination, budget and logistical elements of both digital and live thought leadership events, including webinars and seminars for clients and prospects that typically feature analyst, client and ADP speakers. Works with team members and ADP clients to write customer case studies. Interacts with vendors to produce promotional materials. Negotiates contracts and manages relationships with external vendors. Works with Advertising & Branding leader to incorporate ADP's branding philosophy in all thought leadership events. Prepares ROI evaluations of ADP's participation in various thought leadership events, and measures and reports on the effectiveness and impact of activities through scorecard. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in journalism, public relations or related communications field. Minimum 8 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations or journalism. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Preference will be given to candidates who have the following: MBA a plus Keen understanding of how to craft and communicate a compelling message, and the ability to influence audiences, both internal and external Demonstrated ability in developing and executing communications strategies Experience working with media and public relations companies Has a "nose" for the newsworthy story and demonstrated ability to maximize its impact. High degree of comfort working with senior management and across different functional groups Outstanding interpersonal, teaming, verbal, presentation and process facilitation skills Multilingual abilities a plus A strong leader, able to push the envelope in terms of defining "the art of the possible," while comfortable reaching out for help or guidance when it is required to drive success. Proven ability to think and write journalistically, defining opportunities to differentiate the BU in pursuit of PR outcomes the drive business results. Demonstrated editorial skills and outstanding command of the English language. Strong track record of placing editorial material in external outlets -- traditional and social. Knowledge of HCM-related media a plus. Outstanding organizational and time management skills for managing diverse and potentially conflicting activities. Ability to identify discreet audience segments and craft messages against each and/or partner with others (e.g., Industry Analyst relations, etc.). Ability to "manage up" -- communicate and offer value in conversations with leaders more senior than the incumbent, and add value in all discussions and deliberations.
