Senior Manager, Public Relations
Description:The Manager will have direct responsibility for day-to-day public relations and social media tasks; development of longer term PR plans and capabilities; planning and execution of internal and external events; and the measurement and analysis as it aligns with Brand and product positioning and recognition. The Manager will lead and direct the incumbent Public Relations Agencies and event suppliers on both execution and planning initiatives. Public Relations Contribute to the development and implementation of comprehensive, cohesive PR strategies that align with key strategic priorities for each retail business, increasing visibility and enhancing the businesses’ external image among customers, prospects, media, key opinion leaders and decision makers nationally. Play a leading role in managing the planning, development, implementation and execution of the public relations and communications programs that support objectives. Serve as a media liaison for Asurion and lead or assist on the development of news announcements, written statements, media/customer talking points and Q&As Work in tandem with the Sr. Director of Communications on the day-to-day management of Asurion’s public relations firms of record. Build and expand upon relationships with members of the news media, continually positioning Asurion as an expert source. Advise and assist in developing communications in response to media inquiries. Assist on an ongoing basis with corporate communications campaigns and activities on an as needed basis. Other related global marketing communications duties, including social media campaign planning and execution, may be assigned. Event Management Plan, develop and manage logistical execution for various special events and conferences. Lead and manage core planning meetings across marketing groups, driving alignment against shared objectives Work closely with marketing, sales, product teams, PR, and executive management to achieve business goals via event marketing. Project management including (but not limited to) budget management, accounting, space selection, vendor sourcing and management, project plan management, event promotion and registration, on-site event management, prioritization and issue escalation Editorial / Content Development Manage Asurion’s ongoing editorial calendar. Collaborate closely with other Marketing and Product team members. Develop content for various media and channels based on the editorial calendar. Write press releases, message guides, media plans, fact sheets, spokesperson tools and more. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations with at least 6 years of experience in a marketing communications or public relations role, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Considerable experience in handling incoming media requests. Written and verbal communications skills including experience with the tactics of the PR business (e.g. press releases, pitch letters, social media responses, etc.). Strong understanding of public relations, social media and marketing concepts and metrics Strong strategic project management (people, budget and time) experience and organizational skills including the ability manage large budgets, teams and complex schedules Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Event management experience including project management; budget management, vendor sourcing and management, project plan management, event promotion and registration, event measurement and analytics. Strong project-management and time-management skills. Demonstrate ability as both a self-managed planner and a hands-on achiever. Solid critical thinking skills. Ability to coordinate multiple PR initiatives. Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and lead projects with non-reporting team members, delivering projects on time and on budget.
