Responsible for development and coordination of corporate communications and media relations activities in support of the company’s corporate strategy, financial performance and key corporate developments. The Director will help to create, manage and implement a cohesive strategy that will include thought leadership, executive positioning, trade and business communications, issues management, legislative and crisis communications.This also includes the development of proactive and reactive communications strategies, creating talking points and messaging, press releases, Q&A, etc. This Director will assist with senior executive media interviews and participation in industry events/speaking opportunities. The individual will also handle the daily monitoring and dissemination of relevant company news and industry information. The Director will also support other corporate communications initiatives such as charitable giving and community relations programs. He/she will work in close coordination with the company’s product, investor relations, legal, finance, human resources, and government affairs departments. Strong background / interest in traditional corporate communications, reactive and proactive media relations, crisis communications and social media tactics. Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of political and legislative campaigns is preferred. Must be able to interact with senior executives as necessary to facilitate communication and coordination. • Five to seven years of corporate communications, public relations, and/or media relations experience • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field • Experience in crisis-communications and / or dealing with sensitive and highly confidential projects • Established history of relevant media relations experience • Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of political and legislative campaigns is preferred. • Ability to excel in high-pressure environment • Strategic and collaborative with a proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. • Ability to handle multiple projects and manage/interface with wide variety of people • Able to develop larger comprehensive plan • Solid understanding of financial performance measurements • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills • Able to work closely and as a team-player with other departments / businesses • Telecommunications or other industry experience a strong plus For internal candidates applying for other opportunities within the organization, the minimum educational requirement for college is strongly preferred but not required depending on relevant Cablevision work experience.
