Position Description Position Purpose The Sr. Manager, External Communications will work as part of the North America Marketing team with external agencies, and departments throughout the company to drive strategy and execution of all external marketing communication activities, aligned with the Global Communications strategy. Scope • Annual Revenue Budget: ~$500K • Number of Countries: 2 (US, Canada) • Number of Locations: Atlanta, Orlando, Mississauga Major/Key Accountabilities • Lead the Pallets segment in North America to develop meaningful messaging framework standards for public relations that can be applied across the brand. Define and implement functional campaigns. • Lead all aspects of media relations, public relations planning and execution for the region, delivering a plan that optimizes budget by using a targeted media approach to most efficiently reach the target audience. Drive key media placements and keynote speech opportunities to support the “Go To Market” business initiative. • Establish annual objectives to support the organization’s strategy, ensuring goals are met and a process is in place to evaluate program effectiveness. • Define and lead the external communication strategy in support of the “Go To Market” initiative for the North America business. • Lead the management of outside PR agency and creative agency relationships for maximum impact and return for the business. • Lead the development of regional social media strategies for external communications. Participate in digital media strategies including Website, etc. • Serve as an official spokesperson with trade media and other stakeholder groups. • Independently develop communication plans, leading the planning, writing, editing, executing, monitoring and budgeting phases in support of the business unit. • Partner with key project teams to lead the development of strategies for external communication campaigns to achieve project objectives and submit them for manager’s review and final approval. • Write and edit press releases, white papers, case studies, newsletters, blogs, web pages and other business communications. • Partner with the North America sales & marketing team to produce quarterly customer newsletters and other customer communications as needed. • Identify and collect key metrics to measure external communication program effectiveness Develop and deliver External Communications Dashboards. • Participate as part of the Global Communications functional team, and assist in the development and maintenance of global communication SOPs to ensure consistency and adherence to established processes and best practices. MBA preferred • Professional qualifications in written and graphical content production, creation and project and budget management Experience • More than six years’ experience working in a marketing, journalism, communications and/or public relations role for a large company, media or agency, in constant contact with industry & customers. • Experience working across international operations. • Communication planning experience required. Skills and Knowledge • Excellent ability to create and edit succinct and clear written content for multiple formats and audiences. • Excellent ability to create insightful and engaging presentations using PowerPoint and/or similar software. • Fundamental understanding and use of creative software packages. • Detailed understanding of web-based communications, including social media • Some understanding of the logistics industry desirable.
