Director, Corporate Communications
Description:Develops and executes communications strategies and plans to improve and support company business objectives with the media, public, industry and other external stakeholders. • Works closely with investor relations on financial communications programming and materials. • Helps to advance profile of company in new geographies where Gilead is establishing operations. • Builds awareness of company and its core objectives, including initiatives to expand access to medicines around the world. • Identifies, secures and prepares spokespeople to provide perspective and insight to the media. • Develops communications materials by writing and editing press releases, media materials, speeches, scripts, articles and business presentations. • Manages crisis communications, acts as company's spokesperson and develops relationship with media and advocacy organizations. • Plans, creates and disseminates information using appropriate social media to drive business strategy for products. • Ensures corporate advertising advances and upholds the company's reputation. Ensures all company compliance and ethics standards are met. • Supervises work of outside consultants, including public relations agencies. • Manages budgets to target. • Collaborates and regularly participates as a member of cross-functional teams, representing external communications function; providing public relations recommendations to help achieve company goals. Knowledge • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. • Ability to give formal presentations to internal and external audiences of various sizes. • Demonstrated experience in patient advocacy, media relations; knowledge of healthcare and industry media and reporting trends. • Demonstrated knowledge of regulations and principles specific to communications for a publicly-traded biopharmaceutical company. • Must have experience with public relations tactics and resources and the relationship of those tactics to other department roles and functions. • Experience managing multiple projects (timelines, budgets, priorities) simultaneously; flexibility is essential. Specific Education and Experience • Typically requires a BA degree in communications, liberal arts, business or science-oriented field and minimum 12+years of relevant experience, which includes 8-10 years of healthcare public relations experience. • Specific emphasis on crisis communications, community relations, media relations, public affairs, and corporate social responsibility. • Knowledge of Gilead’s areas of therapeutic focus. #LI-LK1
