Description:The NetSpend Corporate Communications Director is a senior communications position based in Austin, TX responsible for developing and leading NetSpend’s corporate media relations, strategic communications and employee communications activities as a member of the NetSpend President’s Leadership and extended TSYS Brand and Corporate Communications teams. The Director serves as the primary corporate spokesperson and a key advisor on issues and crisis management plans. The Director handles all aspects of external and internal communications, including proactive and reactive media relations, conferences, awards and rankings, regulatory and financial communications, executive speaking engagements, employee rewards and recognition, internal team and leadership meetings. The Director also plays advisory roles on government relations, employee engagement, corporate marketing, cardholder education, community relations and TSYS and NetSpend content strategy initiatives. Responsibilities: Corporate media relations – Serve as primary corporate spokesperson and manage media to ensure accurate and fair reporting in response to consumer complaints. Support executive media engagement, includes development of briefing materials, Q&A, etc. Corporate messaging – Develop corporate communications materials, e.g., corporate press releases, media statements, Q&A, executive speeches, awards and rankings submissions, etc. Crisis communications and issues management – Advise on response and strategy for communications to internal and external audiences around sensitive or complex issues. Employee communications – Spearhead planning and execution of all quarterly company and major leadership meetings, including production, content and messaging. Administer reward and recognition program. As main point of contact for TSYS Corporate, create and disseminate communication from TSYS Executive Leadership. Collaborate and consult with employee engagement team to conceive and executive major initiatives. Executive communications – Coordinate go-to-market messaging at trade shows where NetSpend is present and/or in coordination with TSYS corporate shows. Write strategic communications for senior executive remarks, presentations and opinion pieces. Executive leadership – Provide strategic counsel to channel and departmental executive leaders to ensure clear, consistent internal and external communication during key corporate events and initiatives. Financial communications – Partner with NetSpend finance department and TSYS corporate marketing and investor relations for quarterly earnings preparation. Regulatory communications – Collaborate with regulatory counsel and government relations working group to coordinate TSYS corporate and NetSpend messages and external engagement of executive leadership as it relates to outreach on public policy issues. Represent NetSpend as needed at industry and local events to promote the Company and the brand on important public policy issues. Monitor media coverage of public policy Issues, debates and trends and proactively advise on the impact and relevance of these issues to NetSpend and TSYS. Community relations – Collaborate with community relations working group to identify and spearhead opportunities to promote the NetSpend brand through relevant and meaningful community and philanthropic initiatives. Content strategy – Collaborate with respective owners of NetSpend’s digital properties, including NetSpend.com, brand and blog content sites and social channels. Provide insight to TSYS Corporate on industry insights, trends relevant to the prepaid segment as an active member of the TSYS Content Strategy Board providing insights from the segment. Contribute to development of cardholder education campaigns. Skills/Education/Experience: The ideal candidate will combine the skills of: A strategist who can anticipate and support the needs of internal audiences (business partners, enterprise leaders) and external stakeholders (investors, brokers, regulators and the public). An experienced corporate spokesperson with a demonstrated ability to work with national, trade and local print and broadcast media and a track record of building relationships with editors and reporters. Prior experience as a journalist a plus. A strong written and verbal communicator adept at working with a range of consumer and business audiences of varying education levels internally and externally. A social and public problem solver with a demonstrated commitment to underserved communities and familiarity with the policy making process. A flexible, nimble, self-directed and collaborative self-starter who can quickly shuffle priorities to meet the demands of the job and be comfortable in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment. To be considered for the position you should have: A four-year college degree and 10+ years of relevant professional experience required. Seven to 10 years in the Financial Services sector with experience in direct-to-consumer marketing and communications required. Experience in prepaid and/or consumer financial services preferred.
