Description:The primary responsibilities of the Senior Director, Strategy Portfolio and Commercial Operations (SPCO) Communications include the creation and implementation of comprehensive internal and external communications solutions that drive an understanding of the company’s strategy and innovation culture. This individual will support the Executive Vice President and head of SPCO, along with SPCO’s core functional leads in Global Commercial Operations (GCO) and Business Analytics and Insights (BAI) and will report to the VP, Worldwide Research & Development/Strategy Portfolio and Commercial Operations (WRD/SPCO) Communications and support a number of key R&D projects. The Senior Director is part of the WRD/SPCO Communications Group at Pfizer. The group is responsible for reputation strategies that position the company as a leader in science and innovation with a focus on bringing therapies to patients to significantly improve their lives. Strategic priorities include increasing the knowledge, confidence and trust of internal and external stakeholders in the company’s strategy, science and technology. Responsibilities • Develop and drive SPCO-enterprise communications programs that align colleagues behind the Executive Vice Presidents (EVP) vision, strategy, organizational values and culture - enhance colleague engagement through a range of internal communications that respond to colleagues’ needs and interests. • Support EVP of SPCO with internal and external communications activities that help position Pfizer’s strategy related to science, technology pipeline advances with a focus on corporate strategy, to priority external audiences and build awareness and regard for Pfizer’s strength as a top innovator, and Pfizer’s ability to deliver transformative medicines to market. • Lead the development and execution of policy-related thought leadership platforms for SPCO Executives. • Drive pan-enterprise engagement strategies that illustrate and communicate the rational and approach to R&D investment and planning and any related change. • Provide strategic counsel for the Global Commercial Operations (GCO) and Business Analytics and Insights (BAI) groups to drive colleague engagement and internal visibility. • Work with SPCO Leadership Team to drive colleague engagement and effectively position the group within Pfizer. • Support enterprise engagement initiatives that foster a culture that values science across Pfizer. • Communicate the core science platforms that bring to life the science behind the late-stage pipeline and other high priority programs, which in turn can be leveraged across all WRD, BU and corporate communications. • Shape the external environment to support Pfizer's R&D innovation strategy, and ensure that Pfizer’s external engagements and partnerships intelligently build and leverage the ecosystem for innovation and reputation. • Maintain an understanding of trends and developments in the communications industry to ensure Pfizer’s communication and public relations services are consistent with industry best practices. • Effectively manage agencies and other external partners to deliver superior results. • Create and monitor metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communication strategies and initiatives and communicate related progress internally within Corporate Affairs Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Policy, Business Administration, Journalism or related area. Advanced degree in communication, policy, business, life science or comparable field is strongly preferred. Candidate should also have at least 12 years of experience in a leadership role in communications in biopharma/biotech or with a healthcare public relations or policy agency serving leading clients. Candidate should have demonstrated strength across a variety of corporate affairs disciplines, including strategic programming, executive thought leadership communications, internal communications, policy communications, ally development and advocacy relations, and issues management. Global experience and the ability to navigate an organizational matrix, as well as experience leading major enterprise initiatives are highly desirable.
