The Corporate Director of Communications (“Director”) is the senior communications position for Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), leading all public communications and relations, marketing communications, , community relations, executive communications and supporting Human Resources (HR) with employee engagement. Reporting to SNC’s President/CFO, the Director is also a member of CFO Staff and responsible for the development and execution of strategies that will help SNC meet its brand and business objectives in accordance with SNC’s vision, strategies, goals, objectives and values. The Director will develop and in conjunction with the Communications Manager (“Manager”), execute the approved Annual Corporate Communications Plan that achieves the company’s communications goals through: 1) the advancement of the Corporate brand, its Business Areas (BAs) strategies and corporate mission, 2) management of outside vendors and business partners, 3) website content development, optimization and maintenance, 4) external Corporate and BA communications, including in traditional media and on-line reputation and social media efforts 5) coordination of local, state and national media efforts with SNC’s Washington DC Office (WDCO) on behalf of the company and its BAs, 6) crisis management communications, and 7) support HR with internal communications. Duties/Responsibilities • Oversees the development and execution of long-range and Annual Corporate Communications Plan that is aligned with corporate and business area strategic goals. • Lead the development of the SNC brand consistently and innovatively to all internal and external stakeholders in accordance with corporate branding guidelines. • In conjunction with the Manager develop and implement a proactive media relations and social media program to enhance the company brand and key BA strategic Plans. Ensure alignment with BA strategic pursuits and SNC’s vision and values. • Manage SNC’s media relations and public affairs with the WDCO and support lobbying efforts, as requested to ensure strategies and initiatives are aligned and coordinated on the Corporate level. • Provide leadership and direction for the content development and updates to the company website including interface with any SNC’s website optimization and reputation management outsource partners. • Leads the development of executive speeches, scripts, presentations, op-eds, web content, potential blogs and social media posts • Reviews/edits talking points, white papers and copy for advertising and marketing publications • Direct and develop company external communications to advance SNC news and initiatives to key audiences (e.g. draft messaging for company e-blasts). • Coordinates corporate approval of external Corporate and BA communications, including in press releases and social media efforts • Provides and directs media training for public relations and communication for Business Areas, interview preparation, and serve as company spokesperson as required. • Partner with crisis management team on establishing/managing a crisis/issues management protocol. • Partners with Business Areas on strategic marketing plans • Oversees the creation, distribution and execution of the company’s BA Newsletters and Annual Corporate Video. • Assist with the SNPAC. • Oversee the selection and management of all external vendors contracted to support SNC communication initiatives. COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external) • Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations (Anniversary and Annual), Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc. • Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team training and adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance Regulations (internal and external) Requirements Qualifications • Requires national media and public relations experience • Bachelor’s degree; major in Journalism, English, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing or Communications preferred • 10+ years of public relations/marketing communications experience • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to interact with all levels of management, news media, customers, and vendors; must be able to impact and influence others and work cross-functionally. • Experience in leading and mentoring a team, to include external marketing, public relations and advertising agency personnel. • Ability to work independently with the utmost confidentiality and strong judgment • Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance
