Job Summary:

Raindance is seeking a senior infrastructure engineer in Austin, TX with experience in systems automation & management.  The engineer’s primary responsibility is to be an individual contributor for the software projects and products that Raindance delivers to its customers. The ideal candidate is proactive, responsive, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, experienced with systems administration and has a strong track record of having managed/supported highly scalable systems.


  • Provide technical service and technical leadership to Raindance customers and employees alike.

  • Improve the build and release management for all projects and products

  • Ensure feasibility, functionality and integration with existing systems/platforms

  • Develop tools, scripts and documentation for everyday maintenance tasks

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of security best practices

  • Work in an organized team oriented environment with shared responsibilities

  • Work with developers on improving operational coding practices and validating of software changes

  • Provide on-call support (when needed) for production systems




  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (or equivalent)

  • 8+ years of systems administration experience in a large-scale production Linux or other UNIX environment

  • 5+ years of scripting and development skills in bash, Perl, Python etc

  • 5+ years of professional RDBMS management (e.g. clustering, backup, optimization, etc…)

  • 5+ years of hypervisor experience (e.g. VMWare, KVM, Xen, etc…)

  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with high-availability, clustering systems and services in a hosting environment: including hardware, OS, storage, network, and database solutions (e.g. DRBD, Pacemaker, Corosync, etc…)

  • Strong experience with Linux network services architecture and design including: DNS, DHCP, HTTP proxies, and NFS

  • Outstanding skills at interacting with people, both within the organization (from developers to senior management) and with customers/partners

  • Responsible, organized and hard working



  • Experience in managing applications, trouble-shooting failures and recovery

  • Experience with information retrieval, network programming and/or developing large software systems

  • Experience with cloud computing software platforms (e.g. OpenStack)

  • Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

  • Experience with message queue systems (e.g. RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Qpid, etc…)

  • Experience in managing applications, trouble-shooting failures and recovery
