Types of procedures required. Caring of patients pre op, phase I and phase II recovery and floating to ED to assist w/o at patient load. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. Meditech, pca pumps, pyxis, braun iv pumps, cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS warmers, HP monitors, Phillips monitorsRequired skills and minimum years of experience. ED RN or PACU RN w/ at least 2-5 yearsí¢ŒóŒ» experience Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. Must have: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIH stroke certification, highly recommend TNCC Shift or schedule requirements.Shifts vary between 8, 10 and 12 hours and can be Days, Evenings, Nights and Weekends/Holidays and vary between units ASU/PACU/ED. On Call shift 2-3 times per month (8 hour night and 24 hour weekends/holidays)ED RN's never recover a patient without a PACU RN present until proper training and experience is confirmed and the RN is checked off by nurse manager as competent to be the PACU RN. Floating to other units/departments. The Crisis RN is a dynamic position and is utilized on nights/weekends/holidays to decrease the amount of standby in the PACU and maintain the staffing of having 2 RN's present at all times for Phase I recovery. When there are not patients present in the ASU or PACU the Crisis RN will report to the ED and assist with patient care (triage, trauma/stroke/stemi activation, patient transports, IV starts, medication administration, etcí¢ŒóŒ_); as well as respond to in house Code Blues, Rapid Responses and assist w/ IV starts and other patient care needs (w/o taking a patient load) as directed by the House Supervisors. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.ASU: 12 bays; PACU: 7 bays; ED: 28 beds Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. ASU: varies (1-4); PACU: 1-2Dress Code:Surgical Scrubs providedUnit/department specific training and orientation program.12-16 hours orientation in ASU; 12-16 hours orientation in PACU; 8 hour orientation in ED; 4 days of hospital orientation which includes EMR training.
