One of our top Tier I automotive clients has a need to fill a position of ASSISTANT Human Resources MANAGER at their plant located about 30 miles south of Kalamazoo, MI. The successful candidate will have worked as either a Sr. HR Generalist or HR Manager or similar within a manufacturing environment for at least 5 years.


POSITION TITLE: Asst. HR Manager / Sr. Human Resources Generalist


REPORTS TO: Human Resources Manager


BASIC FUNCTION: Works in concert with Human Resources Manager and HR Specialist to implement Management policies for hourly and salaried employees. Acts as the Company’s representative and main liaison with the Local Union.



• Acts as Company liaison with Local Union and handles all issues affecting same, including contract administration, grievances and arbitration.

• Keep Management apprised of personnel issues and operations morale.

• Responsible for the application of the labor agreement, attendance policy, and rules of conduct to the work environment.

• Assure fairness to employees when Management policies are implemented and administered.

• Assists in the development of facility culture, employee participation and empowerment programs.

• Provides direction and support to Supervisors on labor relation issues, legal issues, and grievance avoidance techniques.

• Continuously monitors status of employee relations.

• Carries out assigned functions described in Policies, Procedures, and Quality Manuals. Implements TS16949 procedures.

• Coordinates training activities for facility.

• Special projects as assigned.

• Make recommendations and suggestions that promote continuous improvement.



Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or Business or similar required. Must have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of labor law and a minimum of five years Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a Union shop. Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
