Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical support for a variety of open systems platforms in the Center for Evolutionary Medicine and Informatics (CEMI) server room running Linux, Windows, MacOS, and VMware; support PC's, mobile devices, printers, and office equipment; secure all data and devices from threats; use IT tools to troubleshoot problems; install and upgrade hardware and software as needed; ensure data is backed up, and websites and servers are available; act as a service support leader by communicating with customers, other technology specialists and vendors in a high-pressure, competitive environment; act as the focal point for IT communications within CEMI; provide resolution coordination when service issues arise.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: This position is shiftwork and the shift may cover days, nights, weekends and holidays. This position requires the person to be on-call.
Bachelor's degree in technology or related field; OR,Four years experience providing information technology services; OR,Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Certificates from recognized programs that indicate mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six months of experience.
Experience in: working in a Data Center, Network Operations Center, and/or IT Research Lab; providing support for open systems platforms running Linux, Windows, MacOS, Networks and batch job applications; Linux and Windows applications; Experience with database installations, EMC/NetApp SANS, NAS devices, iSCSI setups, VLANs, Infoblox, CheckPoint Firewalls, SE Linux, Dell managed switches, Oracle, PostgreSQL, LAMP (Linux Apache, MySQL, PHP), IIS, Microsoft Office, Hummingbird Exceed, SSH, and Remote Desktop; providing technical customer service in a University IT environment. Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.

The Biodesign Institute is located on the Tempe campus of Arizona State University. The Biodesign Institute is spearheading ASUs innovative application of use-inspired research that fuses previously separate areas of knowledge. It plays a critical role in preparing the next generation of innovators focusing on innovations that improve healthcare; provide renewable sources of energy and clean our environment; outpace the global threat of infectious disease; and enhance national security.
