Job Description: 

In the role of Senior Tester, you will be responsible for the testing of assigned components for the Texas Student Data System (TSDS) in an agile software development environment.

 

Qualifications:
The TSDS project has need of a tester to perform modular and integrated testing on the various components of the TSDS system.  This worker will be required to work with multiple testers and business analyst’s to write and execute test cases and test scripts.

 

·         Work experience in testing through a full system development life cycle.  Specifically, in designing, developing and implementing test plans, test cases, and test processes for web applications which provide simple to complex business solutions.

·         Experience in documenting test results for corrective actions, reporting and audits.

·         Experience in coordinating and assisting system users in the user acceptance phase.

·         Experience in testing performance of web applications.

·         Experience and testing knowledge of Microsoft .Net Framework and the following .Net languages, ASP.NET, VB.NET and C#. 

·         Experience with software change management and version management tools. Experience with Merant PVCS Tracker and Version Manager a plus

·         Experience testing object oriented systems from existing system and functional specifications.

·         Experience developing test cases and plans from Requirements Documentation and other specification documents.

·         Experience in developing test processes for use by Software Development and Software Acquisition groups. Knowledge of CMM® or CMMI® test requirements is preferred.

·         Ability to work with SQL Server, Oracle 10g+ and other relational databases, team environment and communicate well both orally and in writing.

 

Responsibilities

·         The duties include, but are not limited to performing standard software development life cycle tasks associated with the testing phase. These tasks include analysis of the application documentation, development of a test schedule, test cases, testing, regression testing, coordination of user acceptance testing, creating of testing results documentation and other related documentation.  The duties will require the technical tester to:

·         Perform analysis of existing business and system use cases and requirements documentation and other application design documents to gain over all understanding of the functionality the new application is required to perform to determine the appropriate level of testing.

·         Create a detail test plan, test cases, and test data if applicable.

·         Coordinate all testing activities after unit level testing which includes organizing and assisting in the user acceptance testing.

·         Obtain test phase sign-off prior to implementation.

·         Perform and participate in the technical reviews of components developed if appropriate.

·         Coordinate with the TEA SQA Manager to ensure compliance with TEA testing standards/ requirements.

·         Communicate with project manager, technical team lead, team members and customer about testing tasks and results and to understand their needs.

·         Utilize the Agency’s change management system and version control systems as appropriate to capture testing results. (PVCS Tracker)

·         Document all work as requested.

·         Keep Agency supervisor and management informed on issues and the status of work planned and contemplated by submitting weekly status reports.

·         Interface as appropriate in carrying out application testing responsibilities with Agency data analysts, database administrators, network operations, security officer and other IT peers and management.

Education/Training
Bachelors or Associate degree in IT discipline. 8+ years in software testing desired. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Experience and knowledgeable in use of test automation tools, particularly HP Quality Center Test Director 9.2 and HP Quick Test Professional, Load Runner.

Experience in designing and building a framework for test automation, and writing test scripts.

Experience in designing, developing and implementing test plans, test cases, test scenarios and test reports processes for integrated applications from Software Requirements Specification Documentation and other specification documents.

Experience with use of database query tools such as Oracle PL/SQL or MS SQL.
