Technical Support Analyst


The primary role of our IT staff is Technical Support. Generally, we only have 2-3 IT workers onsite and at a base level, we all need to perform support of our users. All IT staff will need to participate in activities such as changing out printer cartridges, troubleshooting printer issues, help with Excel and Word documentation and reporting needs (e.g. tables, charts and graphs), monitor incoming request tickets, setting up and monitoring agency meetings/videoconferences, etc. These activities fall under the “other duties as assigned” wording on the description.


Second, we do not have a dedicated develops team here. So, while we may be able to setup an initial system for this person, they will need to comfortable performing server support tasks, such as installing/configuring their own LAMP environment, including troubleshooting that environment, installing/upgrading necessary packages and performing ongoing maintenance. They will also need to assist in securing that system via customizing htaccess files, modifying SELinux settings, and/or configuring iptables.

  • Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals. Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems. Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security, and systems groups. Performs basic operation, monitoring, installation, trouble shooting, relocations, or maintenance of communications equipment. Identifies and resolves basic communications problems. Prepares or assists in the preparation of service record documentation. Shows awareness of standards and regulatory requirements related to assigned tasks.

Assists in monitoring and providing assistance on the use and interface of systems, subsystems, and software applications. May be responsible for accessing data from and transferring data to various local, state, or federal databases. May assist in the review and recommendation of the procurement and inventory of information resources hardware or software. May write and update personal computer and mainframe application programs. Experience in automated data processing systems. Knowledge of the practices, principles, and techniques of computer operations, of information systems, of computer software and hardware, and of information security policies and procedures. Skill in the use and support of personal computers, in the use of applicable programs and systems, and in troubleshooting information systems. Ability to operate information technology systems, to communicate effectively, and to train others.




{C}·         Design, build and maintain a reporting services environment and company-wide information dashboard

{C}·         Perform updates to agency external and internal websites using technologies such as HTML, PHP, XML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, MySQL and a content management system (CMS)

{C}·         Multi-task in an agile, changing operating environment while providing timely project/task updates

{C}·         Must demonstrate a professional, courteous approach to any end-user interactions and be able to communicate issues and resolutions in a clear, non-technical manner

{C}·         Performs other duties as assigned

{C}·         Must have a solid understanding of CSS support across both modern and legacy browsers

{C}·                Experience utilizing a mainstream source control system (e.g. CVS, Subversion, GIT)

{C}·         Must be familiar with and able to implement front-end development best practices such as WCAG\508 accessibility standards, site performance optimization and SEO

{C}·         Strong customer service skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally

{C}·         Highly self-motivated and directed with the ability to effectively multitask, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

{C}·         Must be available for after-hours/weekend work on a periodic basis and able to share on call rotation duties for 24/7 emergency support

{C}·         Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation

{C}·         Must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

            Minimum Requirements:




Experience maintaining Apache/MySQL/PHP services in a Linux environment (LAMP)  


Standards-compliant web development utilizing JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, CSS and PHP


Experience utilizing a PHP Framework such as Symfony, Zend, CodeIgniter or Laravel



Intermediate relational database experience including knowledge of normalization, entity creation/modification and complex SQL query design and development


Professional Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator experience


Technical requirements gathering and documentation experience


Experience with issue tracking systems, SCRUM/Agile project management, planning and timeline estimation


Converting Photoshop design templates into valid HTML/CSS






Experience deploying sites to cloud hosted platforms (e.g. Amazon, Rackspace)
