Description:

ORACLE DBA/Database Administrator (TXRC- 47614ITSACDBA2)

Location- Austin, TX

Duration - 3 Months

Due Date for this Position is July 1st 2014

Current need is for an Oracle database administrator with Oracle 12c and 11gR2 experience in a Solaris environment. While working as a DBA, at a minimum, the following tasks will need to be completed:

1.      Install and configure latest version of Oracle RDBMS (Oracle 12c) with ASM on an existing Oracle T5120 server to act as a disaster recovery server. This database will need to support TxRC’s existing instance with approximately 20gb work of database files. The database should be setup as a standby server. The database will be installed on a Solaris 11 container.  The database will need to be set up to facilitate a migration from the agency’s existing 12c production database.  Scripts will also need to be written to allow automatic and manual startup of database and listener at boot as well as remote and automated shutdown on power failure.  This can be done via a cron job or an agreed upon methodology.

2.      Upgrade existing Oracle RDMBS11gR2 developer database to Oracle RDBMS12c.

3.      Configure FRA/RMAN and implement best practices for database backup and recovery and management of backups and archivelogs on a new Oracle 12c production database installation as well as on a developer and disaster recovery database instance.  RMAN should run daily.  Setup should include scripted back up of data, control files, archivelogs, etc. and management of archivelogs (scheduled deletion after required backups) and FRA (Flash/Fast Recovery Area).

4.      Develop process/script to migrate production data from a production 12c database to a developer’s 12c database. TxRC will need a script or automated process developed so that a data refresh of the new production database can be used to update the data and schema from the existing production database.  In the past this has been done via datapump and also by copying dbf and latcest archive files.

5.      Develop process/script to refresh developer database with production data on an as needed basis.  TxRC will need a script or automated process developed so that a data refresh of the production database can replace existing data or datafiles on the development database.  In the past this has been done via datapump and also by copying dbf and latcest archive files.

6.      Deploy agents on developer and disaster recovery database from an existing OEM 12c (Enterprise Manager Cloud Control).    TxRC will need OEM12c running to perform functions such as adding datafiles, monitoring the database, adding users, etc. for the production and developer databases.  Set up email for database alerts.

7.      Install and/or configure Oracle Advanced Security License to Oracle12c production database for encryption.

8.      Knowledge transfer to maintain and monitor Oracle12c databases and OEM12c.
