Technical Writer (TxDMV - 6081401260)

Location- Austin, TX

Duration - 6 Months

Due Date for this Position is July 22nd 2014


Services of the Worker shall include, but are not limited to, the tasks listed below:

Documents TxDMV’s “to-be” financial system environment to facilitate understanding of the operations of the TxDMV CAPPS Financial System

Documents future state enterprise applications, tools, methodology, network components and design by assisting in the development of plans supporting the Department’s enterprise direction.

Develops and maintains both business and technical documentation. Understands the user’s view of applications and /or technology and is able to put procedures in a logical sequence. Provides expertise on technical concepts of applications and /or user groups and will be called upon to document procedures in a logical sequence.

Write a variety of training and informational articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses. Responsibilities include coordinating the display of graphics and the production of the document.

Maintain documentation libraries and subscription lists. Identify, create, revise, and maintain documentation and templates. Ensure appropriate control access/use of documentation materials. Ensure messages and terminology is consistent across all written materials.

Research and complete documentation service requests. Communicate accurate and useful status updates. Manage and report time spent on all work activities. Follow quality standards.

Composes training documents, manuals, bulletins, brochures, and publications. Organizes and coordinates the composition of material and drafting of forms suitable for reproduction. Reviews and edits prepared material and illustrations. Prepares informational material for release to the agency. Works with agency staff in the development of formats, graphics, and the layout of publications. Assists agency staff in preparing and refining material for training presentations.


 Ability to work in a team environment. Strong communication skills; both written and spoken. Experience in technical writing, training, journalism, or communications work. Knowledge of the techniques and methods of planning, organizing, and writing various types of materials; and of departmental policies, procedures, and regulations. Skill in the use of office equipment. Ability to conduct research; to compose, review, illustrate, and edit technical documents, materials, and reports; to communicate effectively; and to train others.




            Minimum Requirements:




Experience composing and writing technical publications on software applications, databases, and operating systems. Experience relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected






Experience in writing training manuals and materials for automated financial and/or human resource systems


Knowledge and/or experience with PeopleSoft Financials
